Unnamed Flame

「 Unnamed Flame 」

“Unnamed Flame” is an intuition without reason, and an anger without an object.

In contemporary society, where material abundance coexists with spiritual emptiness, people can easily obtain stimulation yet struggle to confront their inner anxiety and fragility, becoming increasingly hypersensitive. In the absence of a clearly defined enemy, only defensive instincts swell, prompting individuals to puff themselves up like pufferfish in an attempt to protect themselves. I seek to capture this excessive and somewhat comical posture through painting.

My process resembles hip-hop. Images are sampled from reality and the internet, then improvised and reassembled. Rather than pursuing realism, I deliberately employ distortion, grafting, and exaggeration to expose the absurdities inherent in images and generate new metaphors. High-saturation, high-contrast colors function as a candid, unembellished visual language that speaks directly to the viewer’s emotions.

“Unnamed Flame” is both a theme and the very driving force behind my practice. Impulses that have yet to be verbalized, sensations that remain untamed—these form the starting point of my expression. I believe that the viewer’s response also resides within this same “Unnamed Flame”.
