「 無名火 Unnamed Flame 」
“Unnamed Flame” refers to instinct without reason — anger without a clear target.
In today’s society, where material abundance coexists with spiritual emptiness, people are constantly stimulated yet unable to confront their inner anxieties and vulnerabilities. As a result, they have become hypersensitive, reacting defensively without knowing exactly what they are defending against. With no identifiable enemy, only the instinct for self-protection grows—like a pufferfish puffing itself up in exaggerated self-defense. It is this comical and excessive state that I attempt to capture through painting.
My process resembles hip-hop. I sample images from reality and the internet, then reconstruct them spontaneously. Rather than pursuing realism, I use deliberate distortions, grafting, and exaggeration to expose the absurdities embedded in images and to generate new metaphors. The high-saturation and high-contrast colors serve as a direct and unfiltered visual language that speaks emotionally to the viewer.
“Unnamed Flame” is not only the theme of my work—it is the very force that drives my creation. It represents impulses that have yet to be put into words, sensations that have not been tamed. This is the starting point of my expression, and I believe the viewer’s reaction, too, emerges from within this unnamed flame.
